Quick Summary
Species Name: Chevalrie
Territory: They have been seen mostly in plain areas, though there have been sightings of them in the desert areas, albeit in slightly smaller numbers than on the plains.
Just what the Chevalrie are in specific is unknown, though they appear to feature some traits of the Equus genus. For example, they almost always travel in herds of up to thirty members on average, and frequently move from place to place.
The Chevalrie seem to be of the older species of Nillea, as even ancient texts have spoken of them to some degree.
As far as appearances go, bones grow from their faces, forming ridges around their eye sockets and tusks to the sides of their mouths in the males which constantly grow, to the point where they hinder the individual from eating if not ground down or broken off. Because of this, they are sometimes seen rubbing against a tree or rock or some other solid available, or less commonly, mock-fighting one another, though it often ends up with one of the combatants being injured. In females, however, the bones only grow around the eyes. Their skin is somewhat course, and they are covered with short fur, unless evolution has somehow steered them in different directions in other areas. Most often, they are cooler colours, ranging from blues, greens, purples, and blacks or greys, which are almost always darkest as they reach their hooves.
These beasts need much running room, and as such, they are most commonly found throughout numerous fields across Nillea, with the generally mild weather and large amounts of grass being ideal for them. However, travelers have claimed that smaller herds exist in the desert. It's incredibly rare for a Chevalrie to travel on their own, and because of their evident preference to social groups, they don't do well alone in captivity, often becoming depressed and starving themselves.
Normally, the Chevalrie seem to be an overall mellow creature, even friendly to those they trust. They can be seen playing with one another from time to time, if they feel safe, further suggesting to their social nature. While they can defend themselves against predators, they instead prefer to run until there is no where left to run. If all else fails, they team up in incapacitating their enemy.
