AN OVERVIEW ON THE SOJOURN
Before true creation, ushered in by our Highness, Avaritia, there were societies surviving on the brink of the blackness. How they arrived there is completely unknown, but they had a remarkable impact on our world and their remains somehow persist, even through the march of ages.
In what is now known as Nillea, there were several kingdoms scattered throughout the land. Close to where our grand city now stands, was the home of the Children of Sojourn. The Sojourn were easily one of the most advanced cultures of their time, and still sport remarkable advantages that we don't have. The Sojourn seemed to be able to actively command and manipulate spirits, or Go in their language. They also had a greater understanding of machinery than we do. The little we've gleaned has provided much of the power required to run the Uial Chateau without calling forth the Monarch's powers, which would be a waste. Their advanced irrigation systems also allowed us to gain even after their demise. Rumors of powerful machines, which is a word we derive from them as well, also persist, often as toweringly large beasts run by souls and cogs. No definitive proof currently exists as to suggest their current whereabouts, but due to massive of amounts of what appear to be blueprints left behind by the Sojourn, it appears that they were at least somewhat successful in this area.
The Sojourn language is also one of the many languages we derive from on a daily basis. At least thirty percent of our words evolved from their texts. How is unknown, considering they vanished long before man returned to Nillea, but it has become our de-facto scientific cataloging language. For example, Hellhounds are called Haiaki, and their recently discovered relatives have correct nomenclature based around that.
