ANIMU: AN INTRODUCTION
What is Animu? Animu is an enigma. Wrapped in a mystery. Surrounded by a sheet of conundrums. Nobody knows what Animu really is, other than an island inhabited by a quite queer set of folks.
The Isle of Animu, known as such from the style of hair most natives have, called "Speeky-spiky animu steel" in Horganon, is a small island off to the to the southwest of Nillea. The people of Horganon, imperialistic slavers as they are, saw ample ability in the people of the Isle as laborers. Making them believe that they had been sent down by their peoples' Rain Goddess, they forced them to toll on the island for its other resource: diamonds.
The Isle of Animu itself is noted for rather odd variation in geography and climate. While the majority is desert, there are many places where it snows. In addition, there are legendary areas known as "Rain Forests", considered a promised land for impoverished Animu people.
Animu customs are based on war and worship of the Rain Goddess. Any time one isn't happening, the other is. Animu's people are mostly nomadic, but do have impressive temples in tribute to their Lord. At any given time -even during combat- ritual worship could suddenly be called for. Worship includes everything from human sacrifice to massive orgies in her name.
The main province of Animu, Kn'gobo, is centered around the largest temple in the known region. This temple accounts for four percent of the entire landmass of the island. It was a fallback point for Animu's children when the Horganon invaded more violently. When the Horganon took over, they discovered to their dismay, that the the temple would not open. It seems to register only particular types of people, such as Animu natives. Even so, the Animu people lost much of their identity in service to the Horganon. Still toiling for them, Horganon is considered a major economic support to Nillea because of Animu's precious stones.
Rebellion is but extremely common on the Isle. Animu's people simply wish not to accept the way of life imposed on them, although it is considerably better for their general health.

Wammithil bok' ratora nazyu. (Rain Goddess we hate and love)

-23rd verse of the Rei'po (Origins) Temple Carvings
Kar'bosh Wammere unfu' Strommithil. "In the beginning, there was the Rain Goddess, and there was the Sky King". In Animu legend, the Rain Goddess, Wammere, and the Sky King, Strommithil, are the main deities of the land, commanding the most influence and power, and are seen as the parents of all other creatures on the island, as well as the creators of their universe.
It is said these two deities wandered through the infinite nothingness for untold millennia before their first meeting. When they did come across each other, they fought. Their relentless battle lasted millions of years before either showed any weakness. The legend states this:
-Second Verse of the Rei'po (Origins) Temple Carvings
Neither would budge in their struggle. But in the years of their fighting, the Sky King had time to contemplate the concept of mercy, and explore his feelings during battle. It is said that many positions of lovemaking were created during the fight because the Sky King merely wished to test his feelings in the opposite manner. By the time the Rain Goddess had shown extreme strain, the Sky King was forgiving of her hatred. Over the following centuries it took for her to heal, she began to love him back, and they met physically, in love for the first time. It was this engagement that created Animu's universe.
In the millions of years following, Animu gained life, granted by the Sky King to be his private abode. The Water Goddess caressed him by way of creating the seas, and separated the earth from Animu so it might be safe. One day, the Sky King called to his lover. The Water Goddess came, and saw his visage, and her own, in a peculiar animal that had come to take over the island. The Sky King then took her hand, and the first marriage in Animu legend was said to have taken place. Wammere became Wammithil, taking the majority of Strommithil's title.
This was the origin of the people of Animu.
VOLUME II: HISTORY OF A PEOPLE
Animu's recorded history extends to before the time that the Soujourn rose to power. However, time is split into two timelines, the longer, broader history of Animu before its arrival in Nillea and the chronicles following the event. Dates are officially recorded by PA and BA, Post Arrival and Before Arrival, respectively.
