Quick Summary
Species Name : Ifrit
Territory : They are found, most commonly, in the desert, but occasionally may be seen in other locations.
Clearly a subspecies of kitsune, the Ifrit have been said to be a gift from Lantio the Fallen himself, though Avaritia will not confirm any such tales, among other rumors the inhabitants of Nillea have conjectured. However, regardless of where they came from, it doesn't seem as though anybody would want to drive such wise and graceful creatures away.
Normally, these solitary foxes are found in the deserts, roaming among the sands in their peaceful existences. However, they have been spotted in other places, namely the Draco Valley and in the city. The creatures have been tamed -- which wasn't a particularly hard process, by their calm nature -- and are often pets for nobility, most notably the Monarchs. However, they should not at all be mistaken for being helpless. They are, in fact, very powerful, possessing an innate talent with all forms of magicks.
The Ifrit are very well-known for their magnificent pelts, fur generally ranging in shades of brown to yellow, from white to black, though they occasionally bear other colours. Their fur is soft, though usually short, leaving them best-suited for the deserts they inhabit. Another striking feature, other than their wondrous eyes, has to be their tails. They almost always have at least two tails. The shorter the tail, the more magick potential they have, and the more tails they have -- five at the most -- the greater their range of magicks to use. As a whole, they seem to favour illusion magicks. This could be explained by their usual preference to defend rather than attack, if confronted.
With everything taken into consideration; their wit, their capabilities with magick, their loyalty, it is clear that the Ifrit are an incredible species, arguably one of the best to ever grace the world of Nillea.

Ah, the Ifrit. If there ever was an animal that truly represented the Monarch's fine taste in absolutely everything, this little kitsune would be the one. Distantly related to the far more vicious and powerful Haiaki, Ifrit are cunning companion animals, often on the defensive than offensive. They seek to aid their masters, sometimes more than they seek to aid themselves. This, couple with their fine aesthetic appeal has garnered them the reputation as Nillea's best friend.
Ifrit are a fairly new breed of animal to Nillea, as no record of their existence is even hinted at in the Ancients' texts. It was often believed that they were Noragoki, but recent excavations as to what the Noragoki truly are, Non-Corporeal, has led our science team to believe entirely that the Ifrit may be the will of a god, or perhaps even a Monarch. That said, the Ifrit bare many of the same traits as Noragoki-loyalty, majesty and intelligence.
Ifrit are often erroneously compared to Haiaki. Truly, if any number of Ifrit were in a fight with a single Haiaki, they would likely be eviscerated before the fight began. Their expertise lay mainly in the field of magics, such as being able to cloak themselves and those around them. Other illusions can also be called upon. During pack meetings, being able to summon a powerful spirit, oftentimes one who can remove particular threats to their survival. They are also a good deal slower than their hellish counterparts, only just being able to reach almost thirty miles an hour on a good run.
Also unlike the Haiaki, Ifrit packs are not for life. They are seldom used, often as an emergency more than anything else. Ifrit are not particularly social to one another either, seemingly preferring human presences to one of their own.
Ifrit are a rare sight outside of Nillea, often owned by Horgonian Warlords more than anyone outside the country. They are also far more populous to the west than the east, hinting that their birthplace wasn't far from the Uial Chateau.
