Name : Arlen Abellio
Alias : Arlen
Gender : Male
Age : 14
Race : Human; Caucasian
Sexuality : Heterosexual
Marital Status : Single
Religion : Vaguely Christian
Origin : Native to Nillea, born in Nil'Caernwolred
Current Residence : Nil'Caernwolred
Occupation : Holds many small jobs, caretaker of his sister.
Height : 5'2" in.
Weight : 110 lbs.
Body Type : Lean and boyish, Arlen's youth is still very apparent. His muscles are minimal, while substantial enough to allow him the ability to lift things like crates while working. Being in the midst of puberty, he isn't quite tall- at least, not yet.
Skin : Fine and of an average colour, although a little pale. Seems to be quickly darkening, however.
Eyes : A bright and deep shade of green.
Hair : Relatively well-cared for, black, and around shoulder length, as he's been purposely letting it grow out for the past several months. Often ties it back, especially while working.
Physical Description : (Will be filled out soon.)
Speech : His voice is still that of a young boy, as it should be, although on occasion it has been known to crack. When it comes to his speech patterns, he comes off as being very proper; something that likely came from many English lessons. He is somewhat meek, however, especially around adults.
Personality : To most, Arlen is, at best, a mouse. He is quiet, keeping to himself when alone, and hardly speaks unless spoken to. Above much else, he seeks to live a happy and quiet life abiding by the law as best as possible, especially with the mistakes that his parents made that landed them here. Unfortunately, his sister interferes rather much with these wishes, which is certainly frustrating- but never would he raise his voice at her to convey his concerns.
Likes : Unarguably paramount in his mind is his beloved twin sister, Alana Abellio. She has long been the sun of his world, and many sacrifices have been made for her happiness. When he works, he strives to do well and to really earn what little money he's given.
Dislikes : While he may love his dearest sibling, her kleptomania is quite a pressing matter; it worries him to almost no end. Their parents seemed to have instilled the mental sickness into her, and for that, he holds some degree of anger towards them. On that note, he does not like the feeling of anger, whether from himself or from another.
Fears : He does not seem to fear much- short of the dark, perhaps- but as aforementioned, his greatest fears lie with his sister. He fears she will be caught somehow, and as such, frequently goes about trying to right her bigger wrongs. Petty theft such as spoons and such are things that will likely go unnoticed, but valuable jewelry... That much he aims to give back.
Family : Alana Abellio is his twin sister. Their parents are deceased former nobility.
History : Arlen and Alana Abellio were bred into the posh life. They had a nice roof over their head, plenty of food, and a string in the higher society that they could pull. Perhaps they were only upper-middle class, or so their mother put it, but it was fine enough for Arlen. So long as he had his darling sister, he could live anywhere under any conditions.
The secret of their success? Their parents had invested in an overseas raid by a Moren general. Pirates, bandits, all sorts of outlaws. They found all sorts of treasures, and shipped a fraction of it to the Abellio family. It kept their funds cushioned, and life good.
Perhaps the only thing he could have asked for was full education for the both of them. While he was educated during the day by fine tutors, his sister played with her toys, or learned some small thing like sewing. It certainly concerned him that she wouldn't learn as much as he might. He knew asking about it would be fruitless, and so he decided to teach her himself. He was a bright youth, always has been, and it would also help him to absorb the lessons himself. Every night, after the pair had been sent to bed, he would show her almost everything he'd learned that day. Everything he could remember was poured back out for her with love, and the two would fall asleep, happy as could be.
One day, though, the funds crashed. Something in the assault overseas had gone south, and their investment stopped turning in profit. In fact, it stripped them of their money. It happened quite suddenly, and it wasn't long before they were out of a house and into the streets. Their parents, used to generations of posh living, attempted to take jobs among the lower classes, but seemed incapable. Arlen tried his hand at working, as well, but nothing he could have done at the age of 8 could have pulled them out of their newfound poverty.
His parents eventually discovered that stealing was easy. It was a fair income- something that could possibly even get them back on their feet. Their first ventures into the life of crime were solitary, but eventually they returned with Alana and quite a few pricey pieces. Arlen could do nothing but stand in horror and watch with shame. What had his family become?
One night, they were caught in the middle of a heist. The homeowners returned to find three of the Abellio family stealing something from them. Panicked, their parents murdered the people, and it didn't take very long at all for them to realize what they had done.
Nor did it take long for the law to figure it out. Arlen took his sister into hiding on the far side of the city, and their parents were caught. They were displayed at the guillotine as criminals. Alana was quite curious as to what was going on, much to Arlen's chagrin, but still he allowed her to watch. When the blades began to fall, he was quick to hide her eyes from the grim display. Their parents may die in his full view, but he would not allow the same thing to happen to his beloved Alana. He smiled, and assured her that everything was fine.
And he would do everything in his power to make sure he could keep up that promise. He took many odd jobs here and there, as they grew over the next few years. His income was small, and he spent much of it on food for the week. A minute portion was set aside under his dirty pillow to save for some "rainy day," as his parents had once said. It was too bad that their rainy day fund was spent on an investment that ruined them. That was in the past, though. He kept a small but relatively steady income. It would keep her from stealing...or so he had hoped.
Apparently, Alana had developed a case of kleptomania. No matter how he tried, he could not break her of it. There wasn't much to do but deal with it, and to return what he could. She never intended to sell any of her loot, which was most beneficial to his cause. He hoped that he could return whatever had been stolen before the owners had noticed, but sometimes it simply wasn't possible, especially when she started going for bigger prizes.
He watched bitterly as the Monarchs enacted a stability program of some sorts. It came far too late for his family, and it wasn't something he would consider. The life of the castle wasn't for him nor his sister, so long as she wasn't sitting on the throne as she deserved. She was, after all, his princess.
So, he would serve his sister with a smile. He'd protect her with his life, if necessary. Whatever she took, he would return as soon as he could- with hopes that she would eventually change. The best of anything discarded was given to her; clothes, beds, anything. The rest was reserved for him most happily. As long as his darling sister was happy, he could live anywhere under any conditions. Her smile was all that he would ever need.
Allegiance : None in particular, unless Alana counts.
Weapons : Has a small dagger his father owned, but beyond this, he does not own much, and neither is he very skilled with their use.
Strengths : Smart and protective, Arlen has an almost unshakable drive to succeed in what he does- no job too big or too small is too much for him, he resolves, for in the end, so long as it helps he and his sister to get by, he does not mind any tasks he may have to take.
Weaknesses : Has a moderate case of hemophilia. On occasion, he has been known to push himself too hard, as he doesn't seem to know when to call it quits. This can easily result in his injury or exhaustion, but he doesn't seem to much. He also, more often than not, puts his sister's needs far before his own, resulting in occasional neglect to himself.
