( Please excuse me, I'm half asleep and felt like spewing something out in my tired but more-productive-than-usual state, even if it isn't completely coherrent. Names, as a whole, are more or less placeholders until better ones can be decided. I'll revise it to make more sense later. )
To the east of Nillea lies a somewhat narrow sea, separating it from the land of the Greykin, known in plain languages as the Silver Expanse(?).
Native Land
The Silver Expanse is a large, heavily forested land, with but one or two strips of sand dispersed between the thick treelines. Small but rugged mountain ranges divide the land somewhat.
Anatomy
The sentient Greykin have developed in response to the odd climates and geography of their homeland. They are very tolerant of warm weather conditions, though as a whole do not seem to fare well in extreme cold.
They are a race that is obviously elvish in origin. Their sensitive ears are often long, easily growing to five inches or more. Their bodies are typically tall and lithe, with the average height being around 5'9" in.
The name "Greykin" comes from their skin, which is often shades of greys. Splotches of slightly lighter or darker colours are not uncommon, and it is very typical for the skin to grow darker beginning at the elbows, to the point where their fingers are black. However, a very select few are born with completely white skin, which is considered to be special among the Greykin.
Classes & Lifestyle
By and large, there does not seem to be any sort of class-system based on the colour of one's skin, but those with solid white skin have long stood in legends as being the greatest rulers. As such, they, the "Pure," are often taken by national officials and raised to be leaders under careful protection.
Living a lazy lifestyle, the Greykin who remain in the Expanse are often pacifists, prefering to do nothing more than roam freely as gypsies or similar roles, or to remain in one place just as freely. They heavily express themselves via dance, saying that it is a spiritual release. Lower classes learn ceremonial dances, but higher classes are made to learn more formal dances, such as ballroom.
Government & Military
The central government often does not have much say in how the country is ruled, however. The majority of the power lies in local nobility, as they uphold the state of settlements. As so many of the Greykin roam in bands, they rely on a safe place to return to at times. The military is nearly non-existant, with only a small number of proud warrior tribes remaining in the country. They are heavily relied upon in times of war.
Reputation
As a whole, the Greykin are often regarded as...untrustworthy. In the past, they have pleaded for help in a time of war from another country, only to leave their ally to fight the war for them as the majority of their native forces pull away. Additionally, many thieves in many countries, small or renowned, hail from the Silver Expanse. They are unnervingly quiet at times, their footsteps mysteriously silenced even in places that would normally be very noisy. With many untrusting hearts, they have bred some level of contempt among other nations, with but a few individuals actively pushing to mend the wounds on the Greykin's reputation.
